Mitico is OK.
Friend of Mitico, when I started writing our newsletter on Tuesday, I was focused on sharing these three news, kick-starting 2025 on a high note:
- We have now constructed our first pilot named "Centennial 1.1" and it is arriving to our partner's site in Bangkok, Thailand this week.
- We joined Halliburton Labs to strengthen our operations and commercialization efforts.
- We received a $234,500 grant from the Carbontech Development Initiative (Columbia/NYSERDA) and two sizable vouchers from the US Dept. of Energy.
Three days later, the situation changed. More than 5,000 houses burnt less than 3 miles North of Mitico's HQ and 5 people died due to the Eaton Fire. Our facilities were not directly impacted by the flames and everyone in our team is safe. We plan to resume in-person R&D activities this coming Monday.
This painful and too-close-to-home disaster is a stark reminder of the violence of meteorological events but also a prime example of solidarity when communities are under attack. As I see my friends, colleagues, and neighbors reacting to the emergency with solidarity and positive thoughts,
I have hope for 2025 because we all fight to dramatically lower our carbon dioxide emissions and avoid the multiplication of climate-driven disasters together.

Centennial 1.1 is arriving!
Our contract manufacturer finished assembly and packing of Centennial 1.1 for a timely arrival to Thailand before the end of 2024. The skids are arriving to their final operation location on Jan 8, 2025. Alan Gu, Mitico's CTO, will supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of this fully Centennial 1.1 unit capable to capture and purify up to 40 metric tonnes of CO2 per year.
